Venue
Phoenix Convention Center
Room

Description
Professional development is necessary for Family and Consumer Sciences teachers to stay current in the knowledge and skills needed to teach the various FCS content areas, utilize research-based teaching and classroom management methods, keep up with technology advancements, master FCCLA advising, and complete program management and administrative duties. Professional development opportunities are provided by a number of different entities in Nebraska, where rural districts and one-teacher departments are common. The goal of this “Make It Better” project is to research best practices across the U.S. and then work with Nebraska leaders in FCS to identify and prioritize professional development needs and coordinate PD opportunities to meet those needs throughout the state. This session will share our plans to complete this PD coordination process. Come share your state’s PD successes and take away ideas for the future.
