Description
The landscape of Career Technical Education (CTE) and the perceptions of the field as a whole have shifted in the past decade thanks in part to efforts to build visibility for high-quality CTE among parents, families, policymakers and other CTE stakeholders; increases in CTE funding at the local, state and federal levels and as a result of current education research that is recognizing that learners who are both college and career ready persist and attain in postsecondary institutions at higher rates. These factors, alongside a greater pace of leadership transition and retirements, have escalated the need to address the leadership pipeline for CTE educators, in general. As the demographics of the typical American learner also shifts to a majority minority population, in-turn the future workforce of this nation, the need to diversify the CTE workforce and the pool of potential leaders is vital. In this session Dr. Kevin Johnson, Senior Advisor at Advance CTE, will share lessons learned from the facilitation of the Postsecondary State CTE Leaders Fellowship at Advance CTE sponsored by ECMCF and preview the State CTE Leadership Pipeline Tool-Kit, a resource developed from the objectives, experiences and curriculum of the Fellowship to encourage replication of the program's successes within individual states.
