Description

Learn how a growing suburban district works to prioritize partnerships with local businesses to foster organic growth. The B.U.I.L.D concept serves as a guiding point for what our leadership team does to serve all stakeholders. Our county has become a bedroom community for neighboring metropolitan areas. With this, large businesses outside of our county reach out to recruit students. While these opportunities can be beneficial for some, other students struggle with reliable transportation outside of the county and adapting to the culture changes of working outside of the community. Our local initiatives prioritize matching student talent to local businesses needs, specifically in the trades. We accomplish this through work-based learning, industry visits, summer employment/internships, and hands-on student competitions. Our presentation will be a deep dive into the B.U.I.L.D. concept, lessons learned and resources to help attendees implement this idea in their district.
