Description
In April 2022, 44% of medical practices noted that medical assistants (MA’s) were the most difficult position for them to recruit in a poll completed by the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA). Industry leaders are citing several factors for these difficulties, including stressors from the pandemic and candidates don’t have the necessary requisite training. CTE students are the future leaders of the healthcare industry, but they can also serve in the most vital front-line roles now. 56% of CTE candidates want to immediately get to work in the healthcare field, either solely working or in conjunction with post-secondary goals. In this session, we will identify the steps to building a medical assisting program from the ground up. Talk about how integrated learning closes the practice gap and improves existing MA programs and share best practices for educators in this important profession.
