Description

What should be done about recruiting, preparing, and supporting FCS educators? Is it possible to be innovative and collaborative in an approach to resolve the issue? The answer is YES! This session provides an overview of a national project that offers a collaborative model and best practices/strategies for states and local districts to address the supply and demand of FCS educators. Marketing is a critical component for recruiting, preparing and supporting FCS educators. Thus, the National Partnership has been a successful vehicle for providing a wealth of online resources and tools to market and promote the value of FCS programs, educators, and students. Sharing successful strategies and best practices can inspire educators to utilize the resources to encourage students to Say Yes to FCS! Key takeaways will include strategies for promoting FCS workforce opportunities to diverse audiences; free tools and resources to recruit, prepare, and support FCS Educators; and best practices for developing regional networks. Attendees can use the shared strategies to replicate the model in other CTE areas and emphasize the effectiveness and value of collaboration on the local, state, and national levels.
