Cory Ortiz
Bio
Dr. Cory Ortiz is a dedicated educator and the newly appointed Dean of the School of Career & Technical Education (CTE) at the University of Alaska Southeast (UAS). He collaborates closely with a regional leadership team, working in partnership with campus directors in Ketchikan and Sitka to ensure academic and workforce development programs meet accreditation standards and align with UAS's regional mission. In addition, he fosters collaboration with other campuses and schools within the University of Alaska System.
Prior to his appointment at UAS, he served as an Assistant Professor of Practice in the Department of Technology, Design, and Technical Education at Utah State University. In Utah, he worked with various school districts, assuming roles such as STEM specialist, work-based learning coordinator, and engineering teacher. Dr. Ortiz holds several degrees from Utah State University, including a Doctor of Philosophy in Career & Technical Education, a Master of Science, and a Bachelor of Science, both in Technology and Engineering Education.
Dr. Ortiz has research interests in teacher retention and soft skills education.
