Susan Turgeson
Bio
Susan has been a member of the family and consumer sciences faculty at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point since 2012. She completed a doctoral program in Educational Leadership in 2015 and is currently an associate professor in the School of Health Sciences and Wellness. She primarily works with pre-professional family and consumer sciences students and graduate level students. She was recognized as the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) National Teacher of the Year in 2009. She also received the AAFCS New Achiever Award in 2005 and the AAFCS Leader Award in 2017.
Prior to working at UWSP, Susan taught for a year at the middle school level and twelve years at the high school level. She also worked in various FCS-related positions including children's section librarian, small business and farm accountant, rental property manager, grocery store customer service, vehicle sales, and home visitor supervisor. All of these experiences provided opportunities to work with diverse individuals throughout the lifespan and gain industry knowledge.
Susan is actively involved in her professional organizations and serves in various leadership roles at the state and national level. She serves as a member of Advance CTE representing the Alliance for Family and Consumer Sciences, is the secretary for the AAFCS Council for Accreditation, and is an associate editor for the Family and Consumer Sciences Research Journal
