Bio

Jason Filie is a Training Specialist with Empowered and partners with and supports educators from across the country to help transform their classrooms and allow their students to discover, develop, and apply the unique talents that are in every one of them, and how those talents can create real value in their communities and society.

Before starting with Empowered, Jason spent almost 20 years as a social studies teacher in Detroit instructing middle and high school students in History, Government, Economics, and Entrepreneurship classes, and has used the Empowered instructional strategy and activities to experience first-hand how his students were able to enhance their critical thinking, problem solving, and essential skills and set them up for success in the real world. Jason has turned that experience into a passion to get this impactful instructional strategy into the hands of as many teachers as possible.

During his teaching days, he also served as a boys and girls basketball coach, co-ed soccer coach, and several years as Athletic Director. Jason currently enjoys coaching his sons’ Little League Baseball teams and is an alumni and avid supporter of Michigan State University Athletics. Go Green!

Jason is available to help and support teachers in building education and their experience the best way they know how, by empowering them, and transforming the education space for the bottom up. You can reach Jason at jfilie@empowerehq.org or 586-260-5941.
