Bio

Richard is the Senior Executive Director of College and Career Pathways at Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). He has over 20 years’ experience teaching, leading, training, and creating systems that drive meaningful impact in the K-12 public school, government, and educational non-profit arenas. Prior to joining the Maryland State Department of Education, Richard was a high school teacher, campus principal, and was most recently the State Director of Career and Technical Education for the District of Columbia. Richard holds a B.B.A. in Labor Relations, a M.S. in Organizational Development, a M.Ed. in Educational Leadership. Currently working on an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Virginia, Richard is keenly focused on developing systems which support strong instructional leadership, industry-connected curriculum, and experiential opportunities to enhance student success.
