Bio

Sandy Spavone, Executive Director of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), has worked with youth peer education national programs for the past sixteen years. Mrs. Spavone left the classroom and began her career with FCCLA in September of 1999, right after the name change from FHA to FCCLA. She began as the Program Assistant and grew to become the Director of Programs when she moved from FCCLA to serve as the Executive Director for National Organizations for Youth Safety (NOYS) from 2006 – 2013. In 2013, she returned to FCCLA, serving as the Executive Director. The focus of her life’s work has been to provide programs and opportunities for youth leadership and career development.

Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a Career and Technical Student Organization based in Family and Consumer Sciences education courses in middle and high schools nationwide. The mission of FCCLA is to promote personal growth and leadership development through Family and Consumer Sciences education. Focusing on the multiple roles of a family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communications, practical knowledge, and career preparation.

Mrs. Spavone shares with youth and professional leaders around the country the great opportunities available through Family and Consumer Sciences education and FCCLA and hopes to see the impact of CTE produce greater opportunities for all generations to follow.
