John Wheeler


Bio

John F. Wheeler has over 40 years of experience in industry and post-secondary education. He is currently advising developing Uniquely Abled Academy institutions as a UAA Consultant for the Uniquely Abled Project. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Uniquely Abled Project.

While serving on the Workforce Development and Innovation staff at the James A. Rhodes State College in Lima, Ohio, John served as the Project Coordinator for their first Uniquely Abled Academy cohort. John retired from Rhodes State in August 2021. John earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Natural Science from the University of Findlay, Findlay, Ohio.

While in the industrial sector, John worked in various Process Engineering, Quality Engineering, and Training positions in the Micro-Electronics and Automotive industries. John has also instructed numerous engineering courses at Marion Technical College, as well as at Rhodes State. In 2016, John received the Ralph Phillips Award, presented by the Pioneer Career and Technology Center, for his support and contributions to career and technical education.

John is very active in the Boy Scouts of America, with over 50 years tenure as a Scout or Scouter. He is an Eagle Scout and a Life Member of the National Association of Eagle Scouts. He is currently serving as District Commissioner for the Arrowwood District of the Black Swamp Area Council of the BSA. In his free time, John is a railroad historian as well as a model railroader and photographer.
John and his wife Deb have one son and are blessed with four grandchildren.
