Tonya H. Eaton
BIO
Tonya Eaton has served as a teacher, curriculum writer, administrative dean, and CTAE Supervisor for over twenty years. She currently serves in a leadership capacity as a CTAE Supervisor for Fulton County Schools Career & Technical Education Department. In her present role, she is responsible for leading the district in its College and Career Readiness initiatives. Such initiatives include Coordinating CTAE Career Expo for students, parents, and the community, district wide college exploration events, connecting high schools with Technical Colleges for Move on When Ready/Dual Enrollment programming, establishing partnerships for Work-Based Learning internships/apprenticeships, and Coordinating End of Pathway Assessments which gives students credentialing opportunities to be better prepared after high school. Tonya has also coordinated the High Schools that Work Initiative for the district which focuses on school improvement and high school effectiveness through key practices to raise student achievement and graduation rates. Additionally, she has coordinated summer youth programs for at-risk youth with Workforce Development Agencies. She has led and served on committees such as Georgia Dept. of Education Work-Based Learning Taskforce and End of Pathway Assessment Testing Advisory Committee. She also served on the Fulton County Office of Workforce Development Youth Council Committee, chaired Fulton Schools Afterschool Enrichment Programs committee. She continues to serve as a member of the GACTE (Georgia Association of Career and Technical Education) Georgia Delegation for CTE National Policy advocating for Perkins funding on Capital Hill.
Tonya has presented nationally on best practices for building relationships with community agencies to strengthen internships for students. She received a Bachelor of Science degree from Florida A&M University, and a Master’s of Science in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.
